German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble told reporters the EU was always generous to Greece before attending the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels, Monday. The German minister stressed that the meeting would not focus solely on the progress of Greece. He added that he would support the return of the institutions to Athens in the upcoming week to resume its appraisal of the Greek program. Schauble reaffirmed the support Germany offered Greece on the refugee crisis, but clarified that the fiscal stability plan implemented in Greece was separate from the refugee crisis. ‘We were very generous with Greece and created the opportunity for her to borrow money, but the country would have to reach some decisions to return to growth’, he noted. Schauble stressed that Germany would provide as much financial aid as possible to Turkey so that the flows of refugees could stop outside EU countries.
