English-speaking universities continue to dominate the world, according to a new ranking from the Times Higher Education (THE) supplement released on Thursday.
The top universities rankings employ 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available, which are trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments. This year’s ranking includes 800 universities from 70 different countries, compared with the 400 universities from 41 countries in last year’s table.
The rankings are based on the teaching, research and citations of every university, with each category weighted at 30% of the overall mark.
Industry income and international outlook were also taken into account, but given a much smaller weighting in the eventual score.
