The intense red colour of the train wagons weaving through countless tunnels disappearing in the snowy Alps is a scene right out of a fantasy train ride in a Walt Disney film! The ‘Bernina Express’ has 55 tunnels and crosses 196 bridges in the stunning Alps mountain! The peak of the train ride route is the Ospizio Bernina at 2 thousand meters above sea water. The train connects the area of Chur in Switzerland to Tirano in north Italy, and is considered the highest railway line in the Alps. Two Italian photographers, Marco Marco Bottigelli and Francesco Vaninetti captured some breathtaking images from their journey on the train. They were both dumbfounded by the sheer beauty of the landscape. ‘I have never seen anything like this vista in my entire life like from this train’, said Marco. The Bernina Express was built in 1908-10 and had operated independently until 1940 when it was bought out by Swiss Rhaetian Railway.
