Talented expat Greeks promote Greek theatrical culture in UAE

‘Scenes & Skenes’ Greek theatrical group perform in Dubai

The Greek economic crisis has lead many young Greeks to seek employment opportunities abroad. This is the case with ten young Greek skilled professionals who moved to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for work. Their love of culture and theatre made them form an amateur theatrical group in an effort to express their creativity in a region that welcomes multicultural artistic events. ‘Scenes and Skenes’, as the group is named was formed in 2015 and tries to promote Greek theatrical culture in Dubai. The passionate amateurs, who devote their personal time to the project are dedicated to delivering performances on a par with real professionals. The group is supported by a Non Government Organization (NGO) called ‘Emfasis Foundation’ set up by Greeks living overseas and dedicated to providing all kinds of support to Greeks back home in the dire economic conditions the country is facing. ‘Scenes and Skenes’ will be on stage performing a play titled ‘Baba, do not die again on a Friday!, Saturday, November 7, 2015. The play, which was a huge hit in Greece for consecutive years explores the greed manifested in everyday life and the impact on the social value system. The group will perform 2 shows: Matinee & Evening.
