Tension among immigrants at Tae Kwon Do

Toskas worries about the tension and episodes occurred between the immigrants at hotspots

Episodes occurred among the immigrants who were transferred from Idomeni, north Greece’s borders to Tae Kwon Do stadium in Athens.

On Saturday morning police officers had to intervene when the immigrants started fighting each other. Police arrested about 100 people, while the groups responsible for the episodes were isolated from the other immigrants.

Last night, a Moroccan immigrant attempted to suicide when he thought that his cell phone and his ticket for public transport were stolen. After police managed to calm him down, the desperate immigrant looked again for his things and found them in his pocket.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection Nikos Toskas worries about the tension and episodes occurred between the immigrants at hotspots.

“Even though we improve the living conditions at the hotspots, problems may arise. We must not close our eyes to this possibility. That’s why we take measures and increase police forces on the islands, ” Mr. Toskas told Agora newspaper.
