Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece and the second highest mountain in the Balkans, boasts of 52 imposing peaks, deep gorges and exceptional biodiversity.
The mythological home of the Twelve Olympians is noted for is rich flora with several endemic species. On of those species, a charming purple flower called Jankaea heldreichii occurs only on the specific mountain, mainly on the north side.
Jankaea heldreichii grows in damp shaded crevices of limestone rocks, especially near streams, and is one more reason to visit this magical place.
