President of the European Council Donald Tusk called on Turkey to respect the terms of agreement signed with the EU on the refugee crisis in tweet he posted. The Polish politician sent a warning to Turkey in a strict tone on his twitter account, while in an earlier tweet Tusk had noted that the deal had curbed the refugee influx with only 60 arrivals in Greece since May, compared to 7,000 in October last year.
Turkey and the EU signed an agreement in 2015 that provides it would take in any refugees entering Greece in exchange for the EU receiving a commensurate amount directly from Turkey. The deal provides that Turkey will receive free visa travel for its nationals into EU countries, as long as it complies with a number of obligations, including the revision of its anti-terrorist laws, something that has led to an impasse between the two sides.
