US maintains a neutral stance on Turkey’s violations of Greek territory

“We encourage Greece and Turkey to work together to maintain good neighborly relations,” a US official said

US Department of State avoids to condemn the violations of Turkey in the area of the Greek island of Oinousses.

Responding to a question, a State Department official said that Greece and Turkey have long-established diplomatic channels to address the Aegean issues adding “we encourage Greece and Turkey to work together to maintain good neighborly relations and to promote peace and stability in the region”.

However, the continuous violations of Greece’s territory by Turkey has caused a great concern to the Greek Ministry of Defense, since Ankara behaves as if it has decided to render Oinousses a “gray zone”.
