About 290 American paratroopers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade have arrived this week in western Ukraine with the mission to train the Ukrainian troops.
The US paratroopers’ arrival was announced by the US Ambassador to Ukraine via his Twitter account, although the exact number of the instructors was not mentioned in the tweet.
According to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, approximately 290 US men have arrived in the area to participate in long-term joint drills with combat units of the Ukrainian National Guard.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian National guard consists mainly of former Maidan-movement participants and reports to the Ukraine Interior Ministry.
