“Is a matter of utmost importance for Greece to recover national sovereign, which was given to lenders, with the signing of the loan agreements,” said the Greek Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis in an interview on Australian network ABC.

Mr. Varoufakis continued by stating that “We must build trust with Germany and to avoid generic estimates of the Greeks or the Germans”.

Furthermore, the Minister of Finance stated that “Only when a proud nation is national sovereign, can respect another proud nation”.

Regarding his German counterpart Wolfgang Schauble, Mr. Varoufakis stated that to turn a proud nation against another is a tactic that has already been tested in the past with abysmal results during the interwar period.
