Vienna meeting to “seal” EU borders with Greece

Austria is in favor of closing the borders along the Western Balkans route leading to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Greece

A suffocating situation has been created in Greece with thousands of refugees and migrants being trapped in the country, after FYROM closing its border for Afghans refugees and allowing only Syrian and Iraqi refugees with passports or special note received from hotspots to enter the country.

Moreover, Austria has called all countries along the Western Balkans route, except Greece, to participate in a meeting on refugee and migrant crisis in Vienna so as to set a common stance prior the meeting of EU ministers of interior and migration, which will take place tomorrow in Brussels.

Austria has many times accused Greece of failing to meet its commitments and threatened Greece with expulsion from the Schengen zone, while it is in favor of reducing the number of asylum seekers and transiting refugees and closing the borders along the Western Balkans route leading to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Greece.
