Welcome to the big, fat, Greek tax fraud party!

Who are the champions of Greek tax evasion? Well, not the poor!

Once again, it seems that the majority of Greeks are being penalized for the sins of the few. Amongst the pensioners who are guilty of tax evasion are a business advisor who hid 17 million euros, a football manager with 7 million euros and a pension-aged couple who “forgot” to declare the sale of property worth 3.4 million euros. Here is the list of shame, courtesy of the Greek Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE).

Here are some of the tales…

– Soccer manager hid income worth 7,742,963.59 euros by filling in an inaccurate and misleading tax declaration.

– Motorist who hid income worth 5,778,761.34 euros.

– Business adviser in East macedonia and Thrace that did not declare a total of 17,600,000 euros worth of assets.

– A couple of pensioners who did not declare the 3.4-mln-euro sell of a property.

– A non-working woman who managed to increase her assets by 937,220.59 euros without being able to explain the sudden explosion in or source of her wealth.

A 6-page announcement worth of tax evasion includes cases concerning public servants that suddenly got wealthy without being able to explain how they managed to increase their assets as well as erroneous tax declaration by doctors, entrepreneurs and the like.
