The 700 refugees: Greece says we will talk. FYROM says what for, they are back in Greece!

Greece compelled to take refugees back from FYROM, according to 2007 EU agreement

The refugee crisis on the northern borders between Greece and FYROM is exposing the incompetence of the Greek government on the handling of the matter. The latest developments reveal a new twist on the 700 refugees that had crossed into the territory of FYROM from the Greek side Monday. While Athens through its Deputy Defence Minister, Dimitris Vitsas says it will follow the diplomatic path to resolve the matter of whether the country will accept the refugees back to Greece, a statement by the Foreign Ministry of FYROM says they have already been sent back to Greece. The Greek government denies such a development, insisting it will try to resolve the issue via diplomacy. Earlier Tuesday, FYROM Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki had tweeted there was an organised plan to push migrants towards FYROM (Macedonia)’. Meanwhile. according to a 2007 EU-FYROM agreement, Greece is compelled to take back all third party nationals entering FYROM via an EU member-state. It is the November 8 decision of 2007 by the European Council concerning the readmission of illegal immigrants into an EU country from FYROM.
