The Union of Hellenic Commerce chambers launched an attack against the Finance Minister, speaking of undemocratic behaviour. Specifically, as supported by their statement, Mr. Stournaras “refused to add today’s discussed and voted-on parliamentary bill, an amendment on the maintaining of the mandatory business registration to the chambers, ostentatiously ignoring the will of 185 elected representatives of the Greek people in the House, of the constitutional arch”.
The union noted that during the House meeting, “the minister faced strong protests and complaints of MPs calling him to incorporate the amendment to the bill in order for the parliament body to decide, and not him, on whether it should become state law, assessing that if it was put to the vote, the total number of MPs voting for it would have been 250, and not just 185”.
In the meantime, the president and the Administrative Committee of the union sent letters of thanks to SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday, the chairman of the Independent Greeks Panos Kammenos, the chairman of the Democratic Left party Mr. Fotis Kouvelis and the president of the Agreement for a New Greece party Mr. Andreas Loverdos for their support and contribution to the struggle for the salvation of the Chambers of Commerce.
