“This year’s May Day finds workers and younger generations facing policies that harm social cohesion and lead to unemployment explosion” Democratic Left leader Fotis Kouvelis said on Thursday, in his message on the occasion of the annual workers’ day.
“All negative developments announced about labour rights, such as the introduction of lock-out or of mass layoffs, must be deflected,” Fotis Kouvelis said. “These developments, if they are not reversed, will permanently bring down the already rotted-out state of labour,” he added.
The DIMAR leader met with presidents of producers and sellers at open-air markets, supporting their demand for the revocation of a new bill in Parliament – that brings changes among other things to the placement of vendors and brings markets under the jurisdiction of local towns – and for talks between both sides.
