According to official figures, on Saturday and Sunday, “Diagoras” airport of Rhodes had 182 flights landing carrying 15120 tourists, a record number for April.
As airport authorities state, these arrival numbers are usually recorded at the end of June and not as early.
The increased traffic confirms estimates of tourism authorities and operators that this year’s summer season is going to portray significant growth, which is estimated to be around 15% to 20%.
Another optimistic point is that this year, peak days at the airport are increased, as such dramatically multiplying the number of aircraft to be hosted daily. So, the island’s airport, is going to witness up to 12 airplane landings an hour, which is the maximum allowable number.
