The site “Agioritiko Vima”, citing an hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, says that in the next few months, late Elder Paisios is expected to be declared a saint of the Orthodox Church.
According to the publication, Elders Paisios, Iakovos Tsalikis, Amfilohios, Ephraim Katounakiotis and Sophronius of Essex will be added in the Church’s diptychs.
The same hierarch said that the rumors that Elder Paisios’ canonization was going to be postponed because of his positions on Greek-Turkish relations are untrue. “Myths have nothing to do with the Truth, which our Orthodox Church serves,” he said.
