The unknown and eccentric Greek tycoons of London

They are members of the British business and financial elite and are included in the list of Britain's richest residents

Newsroom May 30 11:08

They engage in real estate, industry, fashion and marketing, new technologies and Internet. They stand out because of their innovative business practices and unconventional behaviour.

Andreas Panagiotou – The illiterate king of real estate

“Greed is a positive force, provided that one knows to manage it properly”. This is the motto of the man who has a fortune over 400 million pounds and, according to the «Sunday Times», is at 273rd place among the richest British men.

However, Andreas Panagiotou does not stand out only because of his professional philosophy, but because of the fact that is probably the most interesting case of self-made multi-millionaire worldwide. He is perhaps the only Croesus who can not read even his e-mails, since he is illiterate! He had left school at the age of 14, without being able to learn reading since he suffered from a severe dyslexia which was diagnosed several years later.

Demis Chasampis – Harry Potter of Internet who bewitched Google

The son of a bohemian singer who left Cyprus after the invasion of ” Attila ” and a chess champion at the age of 13.

There is no mystery behind the way Demosthenes ( Demis ) Chasampis managed to earn a place on the list with the 1,000 richest Britons at the age of 37. And the reason is a simple and obvious one: his impressive intelligence that boosted him to the top. Google was so impressed by his work that it invested on him in Europe. The first step was of course to offer him 400 million pounds to buy his artificial intelligence company.

Theodoros Paphitis – The man with the Midas touch

Passionate with lingerie shop businesses, football, television and Formula 1, he has been president of the football team Millwall, he is famous for his television appearances on BBC, while apart from the impressive Maybach and Mercedes SL63 AMG, he has also a fleet of luxury and impressive cars. His fortune is estimated at 210 million pounds, and he argues that the only reason he succeeded in his life was because he has common sense.

Katechaki–Evangelismos nears completion

Ingenious, pioneer , and eccentric in his movements, Theo Karpathios earns a lot of money now by just buying and selling companies.

He started up by importing cheap sport clothes for young and when he saw the market need for a brand name he founded his own business with some British friends.

Through years and after founding and selling other companies, too he ended up controlling the 17% of SuperGroup, the parental company of Superdry. He had also managed to create a network of 46 branches in 36 countries around the world, and a wide network of suppliers and partners, whose sales exceeded 53 million pounds a year and profits 10.6 millions. When he decided to leave SuperGroup, the Greek businessman owned shareholding of SuperGroup amounting to 14.7%. Also, it is estimated that he gained around 50 million pounds, when he left the Group.
