The creation of the Rhodes island is related to many myths. According to Pindar, one day Zeus gave each of the gods one or another earthly land or city. The Helios (Sun God), however, was absent and left without land. To compensate for the oversight, Zeus proposed to distribute again the land and this time to include Helios. But, Helios did not agree and said that the land which would emerge from the sea the next morning would be his. So when a beautiful green island, Rhodes, came to surface, Helios bewitched by her beauty and became his.
