Greek national team prepares for the upcoming match with Japan

Greece should win this match

Newsroom June 16 09:55

Greek national team prepares now for the upcoming match with Japan after the defeat suffered from Colombia with 3-0.

The coach of Greece Fernando Santos knows that he must restore the positive climate among the players in order to gain the precious three points against Japan. But at the same time he needs to take the pressure off the players as everyone knows that Greece will pass to the next phase only by winning Japan.

Also, he knows better than anyone that he has to improve the defence of the team.

A press conference is scheduled on Monday afternoon at 19:30 (GMT+2) whereas the scheduled training will be carried out at 23:30 (GMT+2).

Samaras: We will not change our philosophy

The Greek player Giorgos Samaras stated at the official website of FIFA that the team will not change its philosophy aiming to win Japan.

He said that “I know what people expected from us in Greece: that 11 players would play only defensively. But I think that what everyone saw was a team that attacked and was trying to create opportunities. We went to the stadium to defeat Colombia and this philosophy will not change”.

Samaras also added that “we just hope that this philosophy will bring a better result for us, we really need to win Japan”.

Referring to the next opponent of Greece he said that “they have a good team” adding that in the coming days “we want to see what are their strong and weak points”.
