The two leaders of the group clashed today.

Germany scored in the 55th minute from a second-chance strike from Thomas Mueller, taking the lead in the game.

But it did not matter in the end. Both teams are through to the knockout stage since Portugal, though winning against Ghana, was not able to cover the Goal Difference. Since the first game, which they played versus Germany,  the Portuguese lost 4-0 and it came back to haunt them.

Thus both Germany and the United States are through to the Knockout stage, of the final 16 of the World Cup.
