A rare set of 149 unreleased recordings of Bob Dylan were found in an old apartment rented by the legendary musician at the beginning of his career in New York.
The material includes first versions of songs of three of Dylan’s albums, “Nashville Skyline”, “Self Portrait” and “New Morning”, which were released in the ’60s and ’70s. The acetate records were never meant to be heard by the public and were found inside two boxes in the closet of the apartment.
The musician investigator, Jeff Gold, who undertook to determine whether the material belongs actually to Bob Dylan, was excited. “This is unprecedented. The sound quality is unbelievably great. These are first generation recordings, cut directly from the master tape,” he said.
