More than 1,000 fans watched Costa Rica and the Netherlands battle for a spot in the World Cup semifinals on a large screen set up at Democracy Square of San José.

However, at the end of the game a fight started and 3 men were stabbed. A sea of football fans watch on from behind a police cordon as doctors were trying to help and rescue the three victims lying in pools of their own blood. Police had to hold back hundreds of fans as the drama unfolded in San Jose.

Authorities still don’t know what started the fight that interrupted an otherwise peaceful gathering.
