The new website (www.disabilityartsinternational.org) is created by the British Council and was inspired by Unlimited, a London 2012 Cultural Olympiad project.
The website is designed for a global audience and includes a list of professional deaf and disabled artists and disabled-led companies, who are looking for international partners and opportunities.
In addition, the website includes examples, testimonials and studies showing the way with which Great Britain has managed to be a leader in promoting culture for people with disabilities, whereas the British Council has a long history of working together with British artists with disabilities.
The Disability Arts International website was created in a period of increased interest in British artists with disabilities, due to the great success of Unlimited project.
The website currently includes cultural organizations and companies like Graeae Theatre, CandoCo, The British Paraorchestra, and Bobby Bakers’ Daily Life Ltd.
Disability Arts International is a European-wide programme supported by European Union Culture Programme and managed by the British Council in collaboration with VoÁrte (Portugal), the Onassis Cultural Centre (Greece) and the Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance (Croatia).
