The armed wing of Hamas, Brigades Ezentin al-Qassam asked on Thursday the Palestinian negotiators in Cairo not to extend the three-day ceasefire in Gaza, unless they accept their demands, especially the opening of the port of Gaza, while warned that they are ready to conduct a long war.

“We call on the Palestinian delegation of the negotiations not to extend the ceasefire but only if they accept in principle the demands of our people, particularly those involving the port. And if they are not accepted, then we ask the delegation to withdraw from the negotiations, “said a fighter whose face was covered with a Palestinian scarf. The proclamation of this Brigades was broadcast on the television network al-Jazeera.

The UN asked to extend the ceasefire so the Palestinians of Gaza to be able to receive humanitarian aid which is in immediate need.

“The 72 hour ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian organizations launched on the 5th of August and should continue to apply,” said in a statement the coordinator of UN humanitarian affairs in Gaza James Rolei.

“We must rapidly increase the range of (humanitarian) intervention to respond to the needs of the people of Gaza, now and in the longer term. Butin order to do this we need a prolonged suspension of hostilities, “he said.
