Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Friday congratulated Greek athlete Katerina Stefanidi, 24, for the silver medal in pole vault (4.60 m) at the 2014 European Athletic Championships, which are taking place from August 12 to 17 in Zurich.

In his message, Samaras said, “Congratulations for your very important success. Once again, you lifted Greece up high and gave all Greeks and me personally great joy” and wished her further successes, “which our homeland and Greek sports need so much.”
