British actress/singer/presenter Denise van Outen decided to visit the Greek isle of Mykonos to turn 40 a la Shirley Valentine. She told Daily Mail that her childhood dream had been to travel to Santorini  but she postponed the fulfillment of this dream to a future date after seeing that hotels on the island were mainly set up for couples. Hence she went to the more child-friendly destination of Mykonos with her four-year-old daughter Betsy , her best friend Tamara Edward and goddaughter Elicia.

She stayed at the Grace Hotel on the hills above Mykonos…

Betsy enjoyed exploring the beaches.

The women found that Mykonos had something for everyone. Elicia was thrilled that the Kardashians had visited the island last summer.

She told Daily Mail that she didn’t meet a tall, dark handsome fisherman like Shirley Valentine had but she did decide that it was time for her to start exploring the world and more Greek islands.
