A monk who rushed to the scene of an accident that occurred near the Holy Monastery of Hilandari in the monastic community of Mount Athos in Halkidiki peninsula, northern Greece was killed after losing control of his vehicle, due to the bad condition of the road.
According to an announcement released on Thursday, the monk was trying to help two firemen, who were injured when their vehicles went off a cliff and fell about 70 meters down a ravine near the chapel of the Monastery.
The two firemen were on a routine patrol when they lost control of their vehicle. The monk rushed to the scene and his car also drove off a cliff just 100 meters away from the injured firemen.
