Hearing an airline boasting of a delayed flight is a rare thing indeed.

However, Icelandair is completely justified to do so, as its pilot’s decision to take a detour so that the passengers could take a look at an erupting volcano was applauded by everyone on the plane.

The passengers of the Icelandair flight had the opportunity to enjoy a unique view of the erupting Bardarbunga volcano and the amazing lava display.

Many of them were able to capture some stunning photographs of this unique spectacle.
