The completed list of proposed new EU commissioners has enough women for the European Parliament to stamp their approval on the 28-strong team led by Jean-Claude Juncker. Romania finally decided on Thursday to send Socialist MEP Corina Cretu to meet Juncker on the post of commission, which raised the number to nine; coincidentally the minimum required by MEPs. Juncker has stated that he will be reshuffling portfolios and giving female commissioners better posts “as compensation” for being outnumbered by their male colleagues.
