The former head of the Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE) Ioannis Diotis asked and received an extension to testify on Wednesday for his involvement in the so-called Lagarde list case.
Ioannis Kapeleris also former head of SDOE, is expected to appear before the special corruption prosecutors on Tuesday to testify.
The two former SDOE heads have been summoned by the special corruption prosecutors Christos Papakostas and Dimitris Kavalaris to testify. It should be noted that the two men are facing felony charges for infidelity against the state.
The Lagarde list is a spreadsheet containing roughly 2,000 potential tax evaders with undeclared accounts at Swiss HSBC bank’s Geneva branch. It is named after former French finance minister Christine Lagarde, who in October 2010 passed it on to Greek officials to help them crack down on tax evasion.
