The president of Democratic Left replied to reporters on questions regarding the scenarios about him being candidate for President of the Hellenic Republic by saying: “I am the president of the Democratic Left party and want to contribute to the total come back of our party to the political scene. I have not received any proposal to be candidate for President of the Hellenic Republic, there is no secret or open agreement for that”.

When asked about his view on the election of the President of the Hellenic Republic, he said “it is not the right time yet” and stressed that no political games or petty political interests are acceptable.

“There are established constitutional procedures for the election of the President of the Hellenic Republic and until these are set forward, we have a President” Mr. Kouvelis added.
