Sources of Kathimerini newspaper refer to savings of 11 million euros per year for Greek taxpayers due to the reorganization of Greece’s public administration. The Aministrative Reform Ministry’s new organizational rules are to be implemented on November 1. The process, however, will see more than 3,100 positions or departments shut down in order to create a 40% reduction and a slash in 10.8 million euros, according to the ministry’s calculations.
The rules are the result of an assessment that began in 2011 and was one of the bailout conditions agreed with the troika. The civil servants union ADEDY has already objected to the ministry’s assessment of public sector personnel.
