London fills up its ATMs for fear of potential Scottish secession

The "Independent" provides detailed information on the subject

Newsroom September 16 10:25

The British Banks under an extreme secrecy have channeled millions of notes to ATMs in the north of the country, in order to meet the demand, in case the Scots withdraw their money on the next day of a potential voting in favor of independence.

According to the “independent” newspaper exclusive information, the British institutions made last week the above arrangements in order for the ATMs not to run out of money, 24 hours after the panic that could potentially happen in case of voting in favor of the independence.

As pointed out by the same source, bankers have already made clear that until now no increase on money withdraw has been noted through the ATMs, and there is no issue in covering any fluid problems, since the British Bank has already stated that will support all accounts for at least for 18 months in case Scotland becomes Independent.

Further, in accordance to banking sources the British institutions have already issued guidelines to the Scottish branches in order to reassure the customers that there is no need to panic.

At the same time, the Scottish police will be on guard at the day holding the referendum as according to the British newspapers “independent” and “Guardian” there is fear of riots.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that yesterday the USA took official position in the Scottish case, with president Barack Obama warning Scotland not to destroy the special relationship between Washington and London by voting in favor of independence.
