Greek Aussie businessmen among Australia’s top 500

Consolidated Travel is ranked at number 36, rising from last year's 56th place.

The Deal magazine, a business insert publication of The Australian newspaper, has published IBISWorld’s 2014 list of Australia’s Top 500 private companies, which includes at least six companies privately owned by Greeks.

According to neos kosmos site, citing The Deal magazine, Consolidated Travel, a business founded in 1967 in Melbourne by its current CEO Spiros Alysandratos, is the most successful private company owned by a Greek Australian. It should be noted that this is the largest privately owned and operated distributor of airline products in the country with a revenue of more than 1 billion dollars.

Consolidated Travel is ranked at number 36, rising from last year’s 56th place.

The rest of the companies privately owned by Greeks that made the list include the Georgiou Group from Western Australia (ranked 61st) Paspaley Pearls from the Northern Territory (ranked 332nd), Queensland based A. Raptis and Sons (ranked 400th) and family owned Poulos Bros Group from Sydney (ranked 440th). Finally, the Western Australian based MG Kailis company was ranked 467th.

According to neos kosmos site, the 2014 The Deal list shows the growing importance in the Australian economy of both industry super funds and the service sector.
