ISIS releases new ‘lecture’ video by British hostage John Cantlie

The video warns that United States’ involvement in the Syrian conflict will have the same unfortunate ending as in Vietnam

Newsroom September 23 11:42

On Monday night ISIS militant group released a new lecture video delivered by British hostage John Cantlie, a journalist who was kidnapped in Syria in 2012.

The video comes less than a week after the release of the first installment of the ‘lecture series’ by Cantlie and its circulation coincided with the launch of air strikes by the US and its allies against ISIS in Syria.

The 5-minute clip follows a similar pattern to the first video featuring the journalist. After a brief introduction of the “Lend me your ears” theme, the British detainee delivers the message of ISIS, warning that United States’ involvement in the Syrian conflict will have the same unfortunate ending as in Vietnam.

More specifically, according to Site, he suggests that Barack Obama, instead of avoiding the conflicts his predecessor George Bush pursued, was being sucked into a war he could not win.

It should be noted that this is Mr Cantlie’s second time being held captive in Syria. In July 2012 he had been kidnapped, handcuffed and blindfolded for a week before escaping with help from the Free Syrian Army.
