Halkidiki: Aerobatic aircraft crashes with the pilot safe and sound

Aircraft wreckages were found at the eastern sea part of Halkidiki, while the pilot was rescued unharmed

A pilot of an  aerobatic aircraft experienced an adventure with a happy ending on Wednesday afternoon in Halkidiki.

Although so far the reasons of the accident remain unknown, the pilot had taken off from Kavala on his way to Tatoi in the  type Sukhoi 26 small Lithuanian aerobatic aircraft, when he lost control of the aircraft over the sea.

About 15:30 the aircraft had taken off from Kavala. The position signal of the aircraft  disappeared around 16:00.

Immediately  Super Puma helicopters and a C-130 aircraft of the Air Force rushed to locate it.

Finally, as it became known the aircraft wreckages were found at the eastern sea part of Halkidiki, while the pilot was rescued unharmed and was transferred to the 424 Navy Hospital of Thessaloniki.
