Le Monde: Samaras was more convincing than Valls

Although the Chancellor did not state clearly whether or not she trusts Valls, she however " gave her positive consent to the Greek Prime Minister"

Newsroom September 24 09:53

Article of the French newspaper “Le Monde” refers to the Greek Prime Minister’s visit in Berlin.

With the headline “After Valls, Angera Merkel welcomes Antonis Samaras” the newspaper journalist comments that the German Chancellor seemed more convinced over the positive developments in Greece by Mr. Antonis Samaras, rather than she did with France’s ability to carry out reforms after Monday’s meeting with the French Prime Minister.

Characteristically the journalist of the article writes: ” If we were looking for a sign on the progress in Greece, at least in the eyes of the Germans, the answer will be reflected  on the empty  seats at the press conference of  Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras” while added that: “In contrast to previous press conferences half of the approximately 100 seats for journalists were left empty”.

As far as the meeting of Merkel with Valls concerns, the journalist noted that, although the day before the German Chancellor avoided to state clearly if she trusts Francois Hollande and Manuel Valls on the ability to carry out reforms in France, she however “gave her positive consent to the Greek Prime Minister”.

Merkel stressed causelessly, the “positive signs” that Greece has shown, thanks to a good tourism period, while she further recognized that Greece “experienced some tough times” but insisted  with great determination for the “first visible signs”.
