U.S. delegates meet with Greek officials at the Foreign Ministry

U.S. delegates are in Greece to discuss matters of mutual interest such as regional security and bilateral relations

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas met on Monday with a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives. Specifically he met with Republican Paul Cook and Democrat loretta Sanchez.

During the meeting, the two sides ascertained an excellent level of bilateral relations and discussed issues of regional security, Greek-U.S. relations and economic developments in the Eurozone. The members of the House of Representatives expressed their appreciation of Greece’s efforts toward a definitive exit from the crisis and of the country’s contribution to the stability of the Balkans and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

Special mention was made of the active role played by the Greek-American community as a bridge of friendship and a tool for deepening the cooperation between the two countries.

A number of U.S. delegates are to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos at the Foreign Ministry at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Amongst those attending the meeting are Gus Bilirakis (Republican, Florida), Michele Bachmann (Republican, Minnesota), Jack Kingston (Republican, Georgia), and Gregory Meeks (Democrat, New York).
