Terror is just around the corner – Ebola virus more threatening than ever

Briton who died in FYROM is tested for Ebola - Doctor gets hospitalized precautionary in Rome after getting in contact with effected patient - Emergency meeting on Friday in the Greek Ministry of Health

Newsroom October 9 10:38

Ebola seems to spread in a frenzied pace. Even scientists are now starting to worry. The medical community was obviously unprepared to deal with the spread of the virus, while from the so far reports from around the world tragic mistakes were made regarding the care of people who were quarantined and monitored.
However, three new possible Ebola cases in the horizon are sounding the alarm bell in our country. One of a Briton who died in FYROM and is tested for Ebola, a second one of a Doctor who is hospitalized precautionary in Rome after getting in contact with AN effected patient and a third suspected case in the occupied part of Cyprus.
According to the latest information conveyed to international news agencies, the British patient was hospitalized with symptoms that could indicate that he was infected with the Ebola virus and died today. However, the health authorities of FYROM so far have not confirmed the incident.
It is worth mentioning that a FYROM official confirmed the death of the British and that he is currently tested for Ebola, while at the same time his statement that the man had not visited a country that an Ebola outbreak has occurred, creates major concerns.
Earlier reports disclosed that a doctor is hospitalized precautionary in the Spalantzani Hospital in Rome, who previously had volunteered to offer his services in Sierra Leone and was in contact with an infected colleague of his who is now also hospitalized in Germany.
Although so far the doctor has no clear symptoms, he will remain monitored for the next 21 days.
Panic also prevailed in Cyprus, when a 26 year old student with high fever appeared in hospital and was considered a suspected case of Ebola. He was initially taken to hospital in occupied Ammochostos while his transfer to a special unit in hospital of Nicosia was deemed necessary , where the patient went into quarantine.
So, with terror just around the corner, since Ebola virus is more threatening than ever, the Greek Ministry of Health decided of an emergency meeting on Friday.
During the meeting the new facts that have arisen with the appearance of the virus in Europe will be examined, in order to make any necessary or further adjustments to the preventive measures that have already been designed to be applied in case of a suspected case in our country.
