Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni outlined the Greek national zoning plan for tourism at the 2nd Luxury Hospitality Conference organized by the Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne and the International New York Times in Athens. She said that luxury travel could be used to facilitate a strong brand name for Greece within the wider geographical region.
The national zoning plan for tourism includes guidelines for the development of large tourism resorts with top-notch infrastructures such as golf courses, marinas, spa facilities, conference centers and holiday homes.
Ms. Kefalogianni noted that the Eastern Mediterranean draws crowds from around the world and this should be exploited to help Greece emerge as “an integrated, global destination”.
