A new poll shows SYRIZA leading over New Democracy

SYRIZA leads by 6.5% according to GPO poll

A poll conducted by GPO and presented on private MEGA channel shows SYRIZA leading over New Democracy by 6.5%.

According to the data published, 26.7% of the respondents intend to vote for SYRIZA, while 20.2% intend to vote for New Democracy (ND). The Potami party follows with 6%, Golden Dawn and Communist Party of Greece (KKE) come fourth with 5.7%, PASOK received 4%, Independent Greeks 3%, LAOS 2.1% and ANTARSYA 1.6%.

The poll shows that Alexis Tsipras is most popular political leader receiving 42.8%, whereas Samaras comes second with 41%. See below the percentage corresponding to each political leader:

Alexis Tsipras: 42.8%
Antonis Samaras: 41%
Stavros Theodorakis: 40%
Fotis Kouvelis: 34%
Dimitris Koutsoubas: 33.6%
Panos Kamenos: 29%
Evangelos Venizelos: 22.8%
Nikos Michaloliakos: 11.6%

However, 43.1% of the respondents said that Antonis Samaras is more suited for prime minister, whereas 37.6% chose Alexis Tsipras.

Among the other results of the survey, 62.4% of the respondents would like the next President of Hellenic Republic not to be a political person, while on the question of who should negotiate for the Greek debt, 42.5% answered “the current government “and 48.9% ” a government that will emerge after the elections”.

Also, 52.6% of the respondents believe that Greece has escaped the risk of exiting the Eurozone and 61% consider that if the negotiations with the lenders fail to achieve a partial debt write-off, the country should not consider the exit from the euro.

Another poll conducted by ALCO for ACTION 24 TV channel showed that 46% of the respondents want the next President of Hellenic Republic to be elected and, therefore, do not wish early elections. 42% of the participants responded that they want early elections, whereas 12% answered “do not know/no opinion”.
