Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis and Deputy Labour Minister Vassilis Kegeroglou will present the “Minimum Guaranteed Income” (MGI) measure, while Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will address the event.
The event will be held at Aegli of Zappeion Mansion.
The “Minimum Guaranteed Income” will be granted to people with no income and it starts at 200 euros for a single-person while those married will get an additional 100 euros for each adult member of their family apart from the husband and 50 euros for each minor member.
This means that a married couple with two children should have a minimum guaranteed income of 400 euros.
The beneficiaries are estimated at around 700,000 persons and the funding amount reaches 850 million eurοs.
The implementation of the measure will start on a pilot phase in 15 municipalities: Drama, Edessa, Grevena, Ioannina, Karditsa, Lefkada, Messolonghi, Halkida, Kallithea, Tripoli, Samos, Syros, Malevizio. The measure is expected to be applied to the whole county as of 2015.
