The Greek government has requested a public statement of support for Greece from Brussels in an effort to curb the negative climate against Greece. The request comes following an apparent resurgence of the financial crisis on the Athens Stock Exchange as financial investors shy away from the Greek market due to fears of political instability.

A government source said the government wants Brssels to show its confidence in the country regardless of the memorandum.

The statement would come in response to articles by Bloomberg, Reuters, CNBC and others that fear the reawaking of the crisis with the selloff of Greek securities being the biggest since 2012.
