European support raises equity prices

Greek bond yields exceeded 9%

Athens Stock Exchange recorded strong gains today after the great drop noted the previous days, while the Greek bond yields exceeded 9%.

Markets in Europe went up mainly because of the rumours that ECB will buy bonds, whereas equity security benefited from the economic environment and the shares which recorded a great drop are in the center of attention.

Equity prices were up on Friday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) and the basic share price index went up 3.40%, standing at 896.68 points at 11:00 am. The turnover was 28.345 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE Large Cap index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks went up 3.34% and the FTSE/ASE Mid Cap index was also up 2.10%.

On individual sector indices, the biggest gains were recorded in Utilities (+4.95%), Personal Care (+4.55%), Raw Materials (+4.14%) and Oil (+3.95%).

Real Estate (-0.40%) was the only sector recorded a drop.

62 of the stocks traded went up, 5 went down and 7 remained unchanged.
