Behold the shark of Lake Ladonna! (photos + video)

Sharks in the ocean are scary, but seeing one at a freshwater lake is more frightening still

Newsroom October 20 10:39

Those who went to clean freshwater Lake Ladonna, Arcadia, were treated to a surprise on on Sunday when they came face-to-face with a huge shark. No, it wasn’t fished out of the lake but trapped by a fisherman who offered it to the cleaners as a treat courtesy of Stavrodromi fish shop. Fisherman Thodoros Kakouris said that the shark had been caught near the isle of Spetses and is traditionally known as a “sea cow”. He pointed to shark meat as an aphrodisiac food, because sharks are fierce and fast and vaguely phallic. The volunteers got to taste the shark for themselves at the festivities held in honor of their volunteerism at Pournara village just a few miles away.
