Newsroom October 21 05:31

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras had a meeting with the political and military leadership of the Defence ministry during which he was informed about Greece’s geostrategic plans.

Firstly, Mr. Tsipras met with Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos and then with Alternate Defence Minister Fofi Gennimata and the military leadership of the armed forces.

Tsipras noted in his statements that “Turkey’s decision to conduct exploration surveys with the participation of two naval vessels in the area of the continental shelf and the EEZ of Cyprus constitutes an unacceptable violation of the sovereign rights of the Cyprus Republic, as defined by the international law. We consider that this challenge aims at damaging the dialogue process for the solution of the Cyprus issue under the auspices of the UN and undermines the already volatile situation in the region”.
