No one likes watching in-flight safety videos. Most of them are boring and contain information already known to seasoned travelers.

So how can an airline make sure people watch these crucial safety instructions?

To celebrate the third and final film in The Hobbit Trilogy which is scheduled to be released in a few months, Air New Zealand, the “official airline of Middle-earth” had the original idea of creating a fascinating Tolkien-inspired video featuring cast members from all three films: Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Dean O’Gorman (Fili the Dwarf) and Sylvester McCoy (Radagast).

“We’re confident our final Hobbit-inspired on board safety video will delight fans and inspire even more people to consider a visit to Middle-earth,” said Jodi Williams, Air New Zealand Head of Global Brand Development.
