Greek restaurant conquers Moscow

The restaurant aims to introduce the inhabitants of the Russian capital to the new Greek cuisine

Newsroom October 24 02:15

The Russian edition of GQ, a international monthly men’s magazine that focuses on fashion, style, and culture for men, published recently a feature article on an original Greek restaurant located at the heart of Moscow, which aims to introduce the inhabitants of the Russian capital to the new Greek cuisine.

The Greek restaurant is named “Molon Lave” after the famous expression of defiance spoken by King Leonidas I in response to the Persian army’s demand that the Greeks surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae (the phrase literally means “Come and Get Them”).

According to the article published by GQ, Molon Lave restaurant serves a variety of dishes based on the Greek gastronomic tradition but with a modern twist! Greek chef Stamatis Tsilias is not afraid to experiment and presents a series of appetizers and main courses that can satisfy even the most demanding palate. The article specifically mentions the tzatziki, the kolokithokeftedes (zucchini balls) and the world-famous Greek salad, that is exceptional in Molon Lave.

GQ also praises the traditional avgolemono sauce and recommends the cheese plate, so that the Muscovites can get acquainted with other delicious Greek cheeses, besides feta, like Kefalotiri and Graviera.
The visitor of Molon Lave will also have the chance to accompany his or her meal with Greek coffee and choose among a variety of Greek drinks such as tsipouro, rakomelo, ouzo and Metaxa.
For desert, one must definitely order the plate with three famous Greek pastries, galaktoboureko, orange pie and amygdalota (marzipan).
