Fifty difficult days ahead for the government

Troika’s evaluation and negotiations for the next day are in the agenda of the Prime Minister – Government raises the need for consensus

Newsroom October 28 06:06

In the wake of the positive stress test for the Greek banks, government awaits troika for the second phase of the evaluation of the Greek economy which has already been delayed.

The Greek government has fifty difficult days ahead until the EU Summit, which is when Troika will have completed the evaluation and at the same time the process of negotiations for the next day will have already been started.

Meanwhile, government hopes that the positive stress tests combined with the reforms for red loans, as well as tax debt will prevent the poll rising course of SYRIZA.

However, the double negotiation, the completion of the evaluation and the next day are going to be difficult, since they must not in any case create any further disturbances within the political environment.

As Mr. Antonis Samaras had stressed not long ago in Brussels that: “It would have been much safer for Greece if there was to an extent not a reward but a consensus of the opposition. Instead I see an absolute refusal. I urge everyone to support this effort because this is an important target”.

Consensus relates to the guarantees that the lenders demand that any agreement made will be respected whatever the government.

Naturally SYRIZA would not give such guarantees in writing like Mr. Samaras did when he was opposition, but it is important to state that will honor the agreement which will last for a year.

However, something like that would have weakened SYRIZA’s challenging strategy for elections, on the occasion of the election of the President of the Republic.

Despite all, government continues attacks against SYRIZA, as if they follow a tactic to expose the opposition rather than to create aligning condition.

Besides Mr. Samaras will not call for a meeting with Mr. Tsipras, since the SYRIZA leader supports that if he does, he will ask the Prime Minister to resign.
